Renewables Overview
GridPoint SmartGrid Platform enables utilities to integrate distributed renewable energy sources in a utility-controlled, grid-friendly manner. The platform supports residential renewable energy systems and is scaleable to commercial applications.
Through advanced measurement and control, utilities gain confidence in the availability of distributed renewable energy and can verify renewable energy production in order to meet renewable portfolio standards (RPS) and state regulatory commission mandates as well as accumulate renewable energy credits (RECs).
In conjunction with distributed energy storage technologies, utilities can also optimize the impact of renewable energy sources by extending the capacity produced by solar photovoltaic panels and residential wind turbines. Energy can either be stored during the day when solar power is produced or at night when wind power is produced.
Utilities can incorporate distributed renewable energy into their revenue stream and encourage its mainstream adoption by leasing renewable energy systems to their customers. Through the GridPoint Customer Portal, utilities can also provide customers with easy-to-understand environmental data based on their renewable energy production efforts (e.g. a customer's avoided carbon dioxide emissions is equivalent to removing 100 cars from the road for a day).
