GridPoint Energy Manager
GridPoint Energy Manager is the intelligent node within the home or business that controls demand and supply technologies at the point of consumption. The energy manager enables utilities to efficiently manage peak periods by controlling customers' non-essential loads and dispatching power from distributed supply technologies.
GridPoint Energy Manager's advanced intelligence provides utilities with precise control over load management devices to offer superior demand response programs. Utilities can measure, control and verify any number of circuits (e.g. air conditioners, water heaters). Additionally, utilities can increase customer enrollment and satisfaction in demand response programs by minimizing the impact on customers (i.e. controlling temperature versus shutting down air conditioners).
The energy manager, in conjunction with distributed energy storage technologies and renewables, enables utilities to dispatch clean, efficient power into the electric grid during peak periods. Utilities can also optimize existing baseload generation (charging distributed energy storage technologies during off-peak) and eliminate the intermittency of renewable energy by extending the capacity produced by renewable energy systems (e.g. storing wind energy in distributed energy storage technologies at night).
In conjunction with plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), GridPoint Energy Manager enables utilities to offer PHEV owners value-based pricing, billing lower rates for utility-controlled off-peak charging and higher rates during peak hours. Utilities can optimize a new revenue stream, while offering customers significantly reduced charging costs and limiting peak load growth.
Additionally, GridPoint Energy Manager provides the GridPoint Operations Center with the performance status of distributed technologies to preemptively address maintenance needs. Conversely, the energy manager receives software downloads and information, such as new utility pricing schedules, from the operations center.
